Wikipedia is considering a change in appearance

The interface of Wikipedia is under review. In a blog post (translated by Wikimedia France), the senior designer Brandon Harris explains the need to revise the interface of the first online encyclopedia, which has changed little since its creation: "Let's face it: we believe our interface straight out of 2002. "

The Foundation has launched the Athena project, among many others, to modernize the site pages. An ambitious project that is "dynamic" with input from members of the encyclopedia. This review is part of a larger project, including an overhaul of editing tools articles and communication, and therefore deemed too complicated for newcomers blockers.

"I saw so many people - which could be good Wikipedians - abandon the project in frustration, simply because using Wikipedia is too difficult," argues the designer.

The Wikimedia Foundation is not alone in worrying about site usage. Redefined the Wikipedia offers a new vision of the interface of the encyclopedia, in addition to current standards ... A nice publicity for authors, two years later after the last major revision of Wikipedia. The site has also exceeded 20 million monthly visitors in France.
