The term "Metro" Windows 8 and Windows Phone abandoned

Microsoft is looking for a new name for its interface Metro which takes place in his system and the upcoming Windows Mobile 8. The company has already asked its employees to stop using that term.

This is still a Microsoft internal memo relayed by the site Theverge but the information was confirmed by our colleagues at CNET. A spokesman for Microsoft said the name "Metro", widely used for the interface from Windows Phone 7 and future Windows operating system 8 was finally a code name used during the development phase .

The note refers to discussions with a major European partner that is supposed to be taught the Metro, a wholesaler of food and equipment for professionals.

Microsoft is working on an alternative name that could be unveiled soon. Meanwhile, employees are encouraged to use the term "Windows 8 UI-style" or "User Interface Windows 8" when talking about applications ... Metro.
